| Local Responders Conduct Incident Command Training with Shreveport-Bossier Port Officials. (2/27/2009) |
On February 26, 2009, members of the Caddo-Bossier Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, along with the Shreveport Fire Department, Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office and the Caddo Fire District #5, conducted both classroom and hands-on training on Incident Command and Unified Command Concept Training to the Caddo-Bossier Port Authority staff and emergency response managers from commercial tenant facilities located in that region.
Numerous response vehicles from this region were deployed based on a scripted event coordinated as follows: Caddo Sheriff Office patrol cars and commanc bus, Shreveport Fire Department apparatus (Batillion Chief car, engine, ladder truck, medic unit and fire prevention special response unit), along with the Caddo Fire District Chief's car "responded" to a mock scenario involving a facility adjacent to the Red River. This scenario demonstrated various aspects of law enforcement, fire suppression, emergency medical response and unified comman concepts that would be employed, either from a small incident to a major disaster on the huge port facility.
