| LSUS launches searchable online evacuee database (9/2/2005) |
The LSUS Office of University Development and Department of Computing Services has launched a searchable online database of Hurricane Katrina evacuees housed at the Red Cross Emergency Shelters at LSUS and Hirsch Coliseum.
Persons searching for evacuees may go to the LSUS Web site at www.lsus.edu and click on the red “LSUS Disaster Relief Support Center” button at the top of the home page. The first link on the left side of the page will access the “Local Evacuee Database.”
Click here to access the site
There are several sections of information available on the dedicated LSUS Web site, which is designed to help Hurricane Katrina evacuees connect to the services being coordinated through the Red Cross and other Shreveport-Bossier-area agencies. The site is also helpful to volunteers wanting to connect with these groups to provide help. The Web site is being updated as more information becomes available.
In addition to the local evacuee database, the site contains sections about the local shelters, medical services, mental health services, education information, how to help and contact information. There is also a link to the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Web site where evacuees may register for aid.
Links to other sites will listed on this website as they become available.
Here are a list of other known sites that list evacuees:
